I don’t know about you but the word ‘diet’ alone makes me want to go home and binge eat an entire tub of ice-cream whilst re-watching gossip girl. I mean, whats more miserable than denying yourself everything that’s good in life? (FYI, that’s sugar, and the answer to that question is NOTHING).

A little disclaimer before I jump straight into this post though – I’m all for body positivity. If you feel confident flaunting your stomach in a crop top or having your buns poke out of a pair of vintage denim shorts – THEN GOOD FOR YOU. Seriously, I envy you confident folk.

Personally, I’m not the most ‘body positive’ person. It’s something I’m working on, but truthfully, I’ve found that I’m most comfortable wearing clothes than don’t expose much skin. And that get’s kinda hard as the weather gets warmer, and every store is just rails and rails of skimpy clothes. So yunno what I do – I take those cute strappy dresses and make them work for me

Wear a wide-legged jumpsuit

If you’re not particularly into getting your legs out (god, mine haven’t seen daylight for a very long time: think pasty, then times that by ten) then a wide-leg jumpsuit is the perfect! A great alternative to jeans, these babies require minimum effort on your part. Just pull on and pair with sandals or trainers and you’re good to go. No dodgy fake tan or last minute leg shaving required! Also, I like to layer my dungaree/ jumpsuit style items over a blouse – preferably ones with dramatic sleeves. Because, you know me, I looove drama (mostly just the kind you see on Netflix though).

Layer a t-shirt under your sundress

Cami style sundresses with button detail up the front are going to be a fav this year. But honestly, I’m not too keen about baring my upper arms to the world, and I’m pretty positive that i’m not the only one. So – you guessed it – I layer the dress over a plain tee or even a white shirt. EASY.

Throw on a flowy cover up

Sometimes its chilly, sometimes you just feel ‘meh’. Either way, slipping on a light cover up like a duster coat or a longline kimono takes you from zero to hero. Also, light-weight duster coats are the perfect outwear piece to smarten up any daytime outfit and good news – they’re everywhere at this time of year! Or – my personal fav – a sleeveless trench/waistcoat

Keep your mini skirts wrap or skater style

Nothing is more uncomfortable than a tight fitting mini skirt than just wont stop riding up. I’m sure we all agree on that. If you prefer not to spend all day tugging at your hemline, stick to high-waisted skater styles. They cinch you in at the waist and skim over your hips.

Wear your hemlines below the knee

Being the lil human that I am, finding a dress that’s hem falls below my knee really isn’t hard to come by. But thankfully for you lucky tall (that’s anything above 5ft 2 to me), there are lots of midi length skirts and dresses out there. Whether you want slim fit, wrap, or pleated, a longer skirt is fab for when you’re feeling a bit insecure about your thighs. Which btw – you shouldn’t, but I know lots of you probably do.
