It’s that time of year again –  August. You know, that time of the year where you’re kinda over summer (speak for yourself Bex, i know) but it’s totally too soon to be thinking about Autumn. The month that really gets you thinking ‘what am I going to wear today? it’s raining… but it’s hot and muggy… and i’ll be freezing by 6pm if I don’t wear a jumper’. Also, you begin asking – when is an appropriate time to shop black ankle boots? Well, I’m glad you asked, because here’s my mid-season wishlist, which coincidentally includes the most amazing (and cheap!) ankle boots (which I totally already ordered, so we may as well call this a mid-season haul by the time it’s over).

The Black Boot

First things first (I’m a realist) – these Mango boots. Which btw, can you believe are only £35? Thats THIRTY. FIVE. POUNDS. I can’t get over it. It’s almost too good to be true. As I mentioned, I’ve already bagged these beauties and they’re on my way to me now (good ol’ parcel tracking). Be sure to follow my instagram @bexrobb because I’ll be posting about them there for sure.

The Transitional Trews

These chino trousers with a scarf tie belt are at the top of my hit list. I’ll admit, I’m having a moment with chinos. And neutral/ earthy tones. As summer starts to slip away, I tend to prefer investing in items that are muted and more multi-seasonal. These trews can easily be dressed down with flat sandals on the days that we’re lucky enough to get some sun, and paired with brogues or ankle boots on the not-so-nice days. We basically need these in our wardrobes, right?

The Must-Have Dress

In case you hadn’t noticed, polka dots have been having a moment and I’m all over this Zara dress. Although it’s short, flippy, and flirty and it can easily be toughened up on chillier days with a pair of chunky boots or brogues and black tights. Even better – I can definitely see a high neck top working well under this cute button down dress way into winter. A great transitional and versatile piece for your wardrobe – another must have!

The Orange Coat

Although still technically summer, I feel that August is a good time to start incorporating some autumnal shades into your wardrobe. Alas, this orange Zara coat. I can’t even find the words to tell you how much i’ve been obsessive over this coat other than I’VE BEEN OBSESSING OVER THIS COAT. If you’re on the look out for an overcoat early this year, be sure to bag this beauty. The almost sunset-tone of the orange means it’s totally acceptable for cooler summer evenings too.

The Simple Knit With A Twist

I don’t care what anyone tells you – you can never have too much knitwear. I’ve got my eyes all over this balloon sleeved number from Mango. In fact, it’s already sitting in my basket (whoops). It looks thin enough to tuck into jeans/trousers too.

The Black Bag

Since Spring, I’ve been all about my brightly coloured bags but I think it’s time I took it back to black. I’m properly obsessing over this Zara bag chain bag. There’s just something slightly Chanel about it, don’t you think? And what’s more grown up than pearls?

The Classic Trench

Totally a no-brainer, but lust-worthy none-the-less. A modern take on a classic, this khaki trench coat from Topshop is the perfect transitional item, particularly for those gloomy late-summer evenings. Something about this coat makes it slightly military-esque which i’m also down with. I’m picturing black cigarette trousers, brogues, and a waist-tied trench topped off with a big, black umbrella. Although, who ever looks that chic in the wind and rain? We can dream.

So that’s my (v. narrowed down) wish list! I always find this time of year quite confusing in terms of my style, particularly here in Scotland where the weather is so unpredictable, hence I tend to gravitate towards transitional pieces in neutral colours. What have you got your eye on just now?
