‘Oh look, she’s blabbing on about Autumn again’ I hear you sigh. But before you roll your eyes and click on to your Netflix tab hear me out! For someone who just isn’t a sun worshiper and is tired of looking sickly pale next to every other person, I’m just too excited to not have to have my pasty limbs on display. Oh, and to have an excuse (not that you need one) to wear berry lipsticks, wool fedoras, and an autumnal colour palette (ahem, black). Scroll on for a list of my top 7 essentials (well, things I enjoy) at this time of year!
1.The Boyfriend Coat
I opted for this classic camel one. The oversized fit makes it casual enough to pair with turned up chinos and trainers and the neutral shade makes it perfect to wear for more ‘put together’ occasions too.
2. Leopard Print
Whether it be accessories, shoes, a coat, leopard print is one thing I always reach for in the colder months.
3. A Leather Backpack
Okay, this one is mostly because I’m the clumsiest and least poised person you’ll ever meet and need both of my hands free for any potential slips or trips, particularly when it starts to get frosty. Eeek, I’m actually excited about glistening frost in the morning. Is that weird? Probably.
4. A Berry Lipstick
I’ve been wearing MAC Retro Matte lipstick in shade ‘All Fired Up’ religiously since I first purchased it back in 2013. It’s not particularly dark so I tend to deepen it with a more purple-toned lipliner. Although, I’m definitely on the market for a darker, more autumnal shade that suits my pale complexion so if you have any recommendations I urge you to let me know!
5. A Hat (or ten)
For anyone who’s known me long enough will know that I’m 100% a hat person – I just love a good hat and get really freakin’ excited about fedoras and berets and beanies, just YES. I’ll be the first to admit that I’m super lazy when it comes to my hair, so I’m all for anything that allows me to avoid spending any time and effort on making it look somewhat less frizzy. Also, they just look cool (or make me feel a little cooler at least).
6. Black Trousers
Ideally i’m more of a tailored trouser kinda gal but I’ve been seriously struggling to find a pair that fit just right (short girl, big butt problems). I’ve been living in these black chinos the past few weeks – they’re a bit more comfortable than jeans, although that could just be because mine are feeling a little tight as of late, not gon’ lie.
7. Warm Toned Eye Makeup
I’m pretty much a lover of this all year round and only ever really reach for bronze/browns when it comes to my eye makeup. Even black liner feels too harsh for me now. However, when Autumn rolls around I feel I can deepen those tones, and even add some burgundy shades.
